Who Has Done This Before

When the founder will not film, the marketing lead has no time, and the video keeps slipping another quarter. A professional presenter removes the bottleneck without putting a synthetic face on your brand.

What it is

The video is not blocked
by budget.

In most B2B teams the video that never gets made is not waiting on money or on an agency. It is waiting on a person. Usually the founder, occasionally a subject expert, and the block is rarely stated out loud because 'I do not want to be on camera' sounds like a weak reason to hold up a quarter of marketing.

It is not a weak reason. Being on camera is genuinely uncomfortable for most people, the discomfort does not fade with a pep talk, and the calendar keeps offering more urgent things to do instead. A video presenter removes the dependency entirely. The expertise stays in-house; the performance is outsourced to someone who does it professionally.

The alternative that tempts teams is a synthetic presenter. It solves the scheduling problem and creates a worse one, because the persuasive value of a face is that a viewer believes someone is accountable for what is being said. Remove the person and you keep the format while discarding the reason it worked.

What you actually get

Two routes.
Both end with a real human.

You are either in front of the camera with help, or you are not in front of it at all.

1Coach

I coach you through it

Interview-style, so you are responding to questions rather than performing a script. Most people who believe they are bad on camera are simply bad at reading aloud, which is a different problem with a different fix.

  • Interview format, not autocue
  • Your face and your authority
  • Edited to remove the wobble
2Present

I step in as your presenter

You stay in the work and I carry the camera side, from script through final cut. Same face across your funnel so the audience meets one consistent person.

  • Scripted from your positioning
  • Consistent across every video
  • Clear licensing from day one
3Both

A mix, by asset type

Common in practice. The founder fronts the flagship brand video where their authority matters most, and a presenter carries the volume work that would otherwise never get filmed.

  • Founder on the hero assets
  • Presenter on the recurring work
  • One production process for both
Does a presenter outperform a founder

Sometimes, and there is
data on it.

The honest answer is that it depends on the asset. For a manifesto video where the whole point is the founder's conviction, nobody should replace the founder. For recurring educational content, ads and explainers, delivery quality tends to matter more than whose face it is.

Coinbound is the cleanest comparison available, because the variables were controlled by accident. A presenter-led video and a founder-presented video went out on the same channel in the same week. The presenter-led one did 3.4 times the views, and became the channel's top long-form video since mid-2023 on a channel of roughly 300 subscribers.

Meltwater is the other useful data point, for a different reason. They had run actor tests before and the footage came back unusable. The first take of the replacement engagement was usable. Casting is a real risk, and 'we tried a presenter once and it did not work' usually means the casting failed rather than the approach.

How it runs

Brief to delivery.

1. Decide the route

One call to work out whether you should be on camera with coaching, or whether a presenter is simply the faster path. I will tell you honestly which one I think it is.

2. Script

Written for camera from your positioning, or read and adjusted if you already have one. You approve every word first.

3. Shoot

My studio, my lighting, my camera. Batch as many videos as you have ready, because that is what makes per-video cost fall.

4. Deliver

Edited, captioned, cut to your formats. Unlimited revisions until it is right.

Licensing

Know what you are
allowed to do with it.

Hiring a presenter means licensing a likeness, and this is where engagements go wrong months later when someone tries to run the footage somewhere it was never cleared for. Settle it at the start rather than at the point of escalation.

The terms here are deliberately plain. Footage is licensed for the project and the videos it was made for. Repurposing into shorts and snippets from the same campaign is fine. Television, film and radio require a separate licence. The footage is never used to duplicate the presenter with AI, never voice-manipulated, and never used to train a model on the likeness.

Ask any presenter or agency the same questions before you sign: what happens if you want to run it as a paid ad, what happens after twelve months, and who owns the raw footage. Vague answers now become expensive later.

Questions

Video presenter questions, answered

Is a presenter less authentic than our founder?

For a manifesto video, yes, and you should use your founder. For recurring educational content, ads and explainers, delivery quality usually matters more than whose face it is. Coinbound's presenter-led video did 3.4x the views of the founder-presented video published the same week on the same channel.

What if we tried a presenter before and it did not work?

That is usually a casting failure rather than a format failure. Meltwater had run actor tests that came back unusable before this engagement produced usable footage on the first take. Ask to see work in your category before committing.

Can we use the footage in paid ads?

Yes, for the campaign it was made for, including repurposing into shorts and snippets from that campaign. Television, film and radio need a separate licence. Nothing is ever used to train AI on the likeness or to clone the voice.

Would an AI avatar do the same job cheaper?

It would be cheaper and it would not do the same job. The value of a face is that someone is visibly accountable for the claim. AI helps us edit and clip; it never appears on screen.

Can you help our founder get comfortable instead?

Yes, and often that is the better answer. The coaching route is interview-based, so you respond to questions rather than read a script. Most people who think they are bad on camera are simply bad at reading aloud.

Do you present for competitors in our category?

Ask on the call. Category exclusivity can be arranged for ongoing engagements, and it is a reasonable thing to want when the same face is fronting your brand.

Stop waiting on someone to hit record.

Tell me what is blocked. I will tell you whether coaching or a presenter is the faster route.
